PGM's 2012 Club Championship
This past weekend Eastern Kentucky University’s PGA Golf Management program participated in their first major of the year, the PGM Club Championship. This year’s event was one of the highest turnouts for a major with 64 PGM students participating.
After a beautiful weekend of 36 holes only three strokes separated first, second, and third place in the men’s division. Sophomore Carson Stone, Lexington, Ky., won the tournament shooting 75-74 for a total of 149. Second place was claimed by sophomore Mikal Harpster, Warrenton, Mo., who shot 150, and third went to junior Josh Beghtol, Bettendorf, Ia., shooting a 151.
In the women’s division junior Kelcy Diseroad, Martinsville, In., squeezed out a two stroke victory over freshmen Kendra Frazier, Stow, Oh. This club championship offered the highest turnout in the women’s division since the tournament began in 2006.
All in all, the tournament was a huge success. Most of the field was separated by only a few strokes entering the second day, which served for an exciting finish.
